CTE: Career Technical Education

The California State Department of Education's definition of CTE is as follows: "career technical education engages all students in a dynamic and seamless learning experience resulting in their mastery of the career and academic knowledge and skills necessary to become productive, contributing members of society".

ITA has one CTE course each year:
  1. Freshmen take "Introduction to Information Communication Technology (ICT)"
  2. Sophomores take Computer Support Specialist 1 & 2, using CISCO Academy curriculum modules from IT Essentials 1 & 2. This course prepares students for the industry certifications IC3 and CompTIA A+.
  3. Juniors take Network Engineer 1, using CISCO Academy curriculum modules from CISCO CCNA Discovery 1. This course prepares students for the CISCO Certified Entry Level Network Technician (CCENT) industry certification.
  4. Seniors take Network Engineer 2, using CISCO Academy curriculum modules from CISCO CCNA Discovery 2. This course prepares students for the CISCO Certified Entry Level Network Technician (CCENT) industry certification, and will work on additional projects in router and wireless configurations.
